A big majority of the U.S. workforce wants to know if their co-workers are vaccinated against Covid… but they don’t want to reveal if they’ve gotten the vaccine themselves. That’s according to the latest American Staffing Association survey, which also shows that nearly 60 percent of employees want their co-workers to mask up on the job whether they’ve been vaccinated or not. According to the survey, some workers are more trusting of their colleagues than others. Black and Hispanic Americans are much more likely than whites to want coworkers to wear a mask.
If young adults get Covid-19, they may recover… but end up exhausted. Three new case studies in the journal Frontiers In Medicine link long term Covid recovery to chronic fatigue syndrome, or CFS. Researchers studied a number of post-Covid cases, all showing the typical symptoms of CFS – fatigue, lightheadedness and difficulty concentrating. Scientists say they need to do more research to understand how CFS develops from Covid-19… and whether or not other viral infections may have the same effect.
And finally… researchers have found another risk factor for dementia—tooth loss. About one in six people over age 65 have lost all their teeth… and a study in the Journal of Post-acute and Long Term Care Medicine shows that with each tooth lost, the risk of dementia goes up. Scientists say an inability to chew can lead to nutritional deficiencies that can affect the brain. Getting well-fitting dentures can fix the problem.
