Novel research, published in the journal iScience, has made immense progress toward making thought-powered wheelchairs a reality. Participants wore a cap that was able to translate their brain activity into commands that drove the wheelchair. Though this technology isn’t yet ready for commercial use, it’s a major development for people with motor disabilities.
Teenagers need sleep – but at what cost?
Between high school, work, and extracurriculars, teens are notorious for neglecting their nighttime rest. But for those with sleep disorders, prescribing depressant drugs – like Xanax – could make matters much worse. A study published in JAMA Network Open has discovered that young people who use prescription sleep medication have an increased risk of overdose within six months after starting the treatment.

Researchers have created a new method of defogging surfaces such as car windshields and eye wear. They coat the objects with an ultra thin, gold-based coating that’s transparent. the research, published in Nature Nanotechnology, shows how the product uses sunlight to heat the glass, which prevents condensation from forming.
