How moms help program their unborn baby’s internal biological clock.

These clocks help time our sleep, metabolism and other essential functions. A mouse study in the journal of Biological Rhythms reveals that clear day-night cycles synchronize during the equivalent of the human third trimester. This alignment is driven by maternal hormones crossing the placenta, which heavily dictates healthy fetal development. this research suggests that disruptions to this sensitive window could raise the child’s long-term risk for mood disorders.

Sugar-free sweeteners could be quietly disrupting your body’s internal chemistry.

Research published in Current Athero-Sclerosis Reports revealed that low-calorie sweeteners can significantly raise fasting insulin and HbA-1c, a crucial marker of long-term blood sugar control. It also found strong signals of metabolic impairment linked to changes in the gut microbiome. So while these substitutes may help replace excessive soda intake, they may not be entirely safe.

Can a virus cause Parkinson’s disease?

A mouse study has shown that an everyday infection induces the exact cell destruction and motor disabilities seen in human patients with Parkinson’s. Just one month post-infection, the virus completely wiped-out crucial dopamine neurons, causing long-term physical weakness and severe coordination loss. This information helps reveal how early-life illnesses interact with genetics to ignite motor disorders decades down the road. The research is published in Brain, Behavior, andImmunity Health.

The next massive breakthrough in the plant-based protein market might currently be growing in your backyard.

A study published in ACS Food Science & Technology reveals that common marigold flowers contain the same amount of protein as conventional staples like quinoa. They also have high heat stability and carry unique amino acid profiles that create umami flavors. This research highlights an eco-friendly source of sustainable nutrition capable of elevating the taste, structure, and mineral density of modern meat alternatives.
