How fevers can benefit your child’s health

A national poll by C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital shows that one in three parents will medicate their kid for a low-grade fever – which is a temperature of 100 to 102 degrees. However, researchers say letting the fever run its course is actually more beneficial in older children because it helps kill the virus or bacteria that’s causing the sickness. Giving your child medication for low-grade fevers can mask the symptoms of an illness and delay a diagnosis.

Can CBD help you kick your bad habit?

Cannabidial, or CBD, is a non-psychoactive compound of cannabis. Many people use it for joint pain or anxiety, but a new study has tested its effectiveness in helping cigarette smokers quit. While more research is needed, the paper shows that CBD may slow down nicotine metabolism, which helps curb the need for another cigarette. The study is published in the journal Chemical Research in Toxicology.

If our eyes are always moving, why do we see a stable world?

Researchers have wondered about this since discovering that our eyes are in constant motion – and a new study may have figured out how it works. These tiny movements are always taking in information to figure out where we are in relation to everything around us. According to the paper, which appears in Nature Communications, this spatial awareness helps create a stable image.
