Here’s the best way to increase your vitamin-d during winter.

A majority of Americans are deficient in this vitamin that’s crucial for both physical and mental health. Nutritionists recommend consuming foods that have at least two micro-grams of Vitamin-D, which is about 10 percent of the daily value. These include fish, milk, egg yolks, and yogurt. For most adults, experts recommend a daily intake of 15 to 20 micrograms each day.

Should you be taking a weight loss drug for alcohol addiction?

A pilot study in Scientific Reports reveals that GLP-1 medications like Ozempic slow alcohol absorption in the body. The study’s participants took longer to increase breath alcohol concentration and also reported feeling less intoxicated. The researchers believe this could be a new avenue to explore for helping people curb their alcohol cravings.

Hormone replacement may not just be for menopause treatment.

Researchers have found that estrogen could be a helpful therapy for a progressive form of multiple sclerosis. A study in the Journal Of Neuroimmunology reveals that two types of the hormone could reduce symptoms like fatigue, cognitive issues, and bladder and bowel problems. It may be why women with MS tend to go into remission during pregnancy.

Is air pollution affecting your metabolism?

A new animal study in JCI Insight shows that long-term exposure to fine air pollution disrupts the normal function of brown fat. This fat helps the body generate heat and burn calories, playing a key role in glucose metabolism and energy balance. Disrupting this process can lead to insulin resistance and metabolic diseases.
