Rich countries are buying all the available Covid-19 vaccine for themselves… leaving poor countries in the cold. A report in the journal Nature finds if vaccine hoarding continues, the pandemic could go on another seven years. The report shows that countries with just 16 percent of the world’s population have snapped up more than half the vaccine… While 130 countries with 2.5 billion people have gotten no vaccine at all. The report says as a result, variants will be more likely to form in those poor countries… and come back to infect rich nations again and again.
Have you been double masking? If you haven’t been able to get the vaccine, it could be one of the best things you can do to stay safe from Covid. The CDC says wearing two face masks, with a cloth mask on top of a surgical mask, can cut transmission by up to 96 percent. New findings also show that having a tight fitting mask is extremely important.
And finally… you may think that loud music is distracting while you’re driving… but a new Israeli study finds that young drivers are more distracted by not having music. The study, reported in EurekAlert!, shows that drivers age 18 to 29 are used to constant stimulation. Eighty percent of them told researchers that it’s nearly impossible to concentrate while driving if they don’t have music playing.
