Anti-inflammatory drugs may increase chances of developing chronic pain

Pain-relief medication could actually be worsening your injury. A study in Science Translational Medicine shows how anti-inflammatory drugs can increase your chances of developing chronic pain. These medications obstruct white blood cells known as neutrophils. Although such drugs are effective in combating pain at an early stage, the subsequent neutrophil-deficiency is liable to cause you pain up to 10 years into the future.

BMC Infectious Diseases study finds immunity diminishes to 22% four months after Covid-19 vaccine

If you think being vaccinated is the end of the Covid-19 threat, think again. A study published in the journal BMC Infectious Diseases, reveals the true extent of the vaccine’s protection. It shows that a month a person’s rate of immunity is 83% one month after receiving the vaccine. Approximately four months later, immunity diminishes to 22%. The study also uncovers an accelerated decline in people age 65 and older.

Aspirin may be good for more than just headaches. A study in eLife details how aspirin can disrupt the spread of colorectal cancer cells. A two-year clinical trial has revealed that Lynch syndrome patients who took aspirin on a daily basis were 63% less likely to contract colorectal cancer. The drug increases death rates of cancer cells and reduces the rate of division in tumor cells.

Edible QR code may be solution to counterfeit alcohol

And finally… how do you know if the whiskey you’re drinking is real or fake? Counterfeit alcohol is a growing problem that doesn’t yet have a clear solution. According to a study published in ACS Central Science, an edible silk tag can determine the alcohol’s authenticity. The tag contains a QR code so consumers can easily access the data from their smartphone.
