How are psychedelic mushrooms related to mental health?

A new paper in the Journal Of Psychopharmacology found assisted therapy could help relieve depression for up to a year. Scientists paired the magic mushrooms with psychotherapy, and patients reported reduced levels of depression up to 12 months after treatment. While psychedelics can be found relatively easily, researchers warn not to try this without proper medical supervision. (John Hopkins University)

Earth’s natural coasts are disappearing.

For the first time, experts evaluated the world’s coastal areas from land and sea giving them a comprehensive look at diminishing land. The paper, published in the Society For Conservation Biology, shows nearly 48 percent of coastal regions have been negatively affected by humanity. Scientists say we need to restore the earth’s coastal areas before they’re completely wiped away. (UC Santa Barbra)

Do mosquitoes care about your fashion sense?

New research suggests a common species of mosquito fly toward colors like red, orange, and black. they ignore others such as green, blue, purple, and white. Our breath alerts mosquitoes to a potential host, and they start scanning for specific colors, according to the findings published in Nature Communications. Unfortunately, human skin emits a strong red-orange signal. so maybe add a bit more cool-toned clothing to your wardrobe this summer. (University of Washington)
