Elizabeth Westfield
Co-Host of Radio Health Journal
Elizabeth earned her BS in Broadcast Journalism from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2007. She joined Nancy Benson (fellow RHJ host) on an international reporting trip to China after graduation, just one year before they would host the Olympics, which resulted in an hour-long radio documentary on WILL-AM. The documentary covered a variety of economic, political, and social issues, and Elizabeth’s focus was on the country’s one-child policy—also known as population planning initiative.
Since then, Elizabeth has worked full-time in both commercial radio and public broadcasting, working for Saga Communications and later Illinois Public Media, both in Champaign, Il. In her various roles, Elizabeth has served as on-air talent, host of music programs and weekend news continuity, fill-in news-director, guest host for the statewide radio program, The 21st, and voiceover talent.
